Durham University Boat Club (DUBC) kicked off the year at Tyne New Year Head, delivering exciting and promising performances across multiple categories. Despite challenging conditions on the river, our crews rose to the occasion, showcasing their strength, resilience, and technical excellence to secure a highly successful day of racing.
Our first successful result came in Division 1, where the DUBC Men’s Championship 8+ came away with a victory of 55 seconds over Tyne ARC.
The momentum carried on into Division 2, where our women’s crews asserted their dominance over Newcastle University.
🥇 Women’s Championship 8+ stormed to victory, finishing 15 seconds ahead of Newcastle University.
🥇 Women’s Band 2 8+ delivered a great performance, crossing the line 2 minutes 30 seconds ahead of Newcastle University.
Our smaller boats were equally impressive, showcasing DUBC strong performance across all categories:
🥇 Championship 2- claimed victory by 45 seconds over Newcastle University.
🥇 Band 2 2- secured the win by 16 seconds over Newcastle University.
🥇 Band 3 2- dominated their race, finishing a staggering 5 minutes 10 seconds ahead of Tyne United.
These results showed our squad’s strength and set a strong foundation for the season ahead. Despite challenging conditions, our crews displayed determination and adaptability.
With such a commanding performance, we now turn our focus to upcoming races, eager to build on this success and continue our pursuit of excellence on the water.
